After directing hundreds of TV commercials and three feature length films, Peter Manus is well adept at making films in just about every conceivable location and environment. Just to name a few, he has shot in jungles, modern cityscapes, ancient temples, oceans and mountaintops. With camera in hand, he has “been there and shot that” all around the world.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Peter Manus attended the University of South California “School of Cinematic Arts” with a focus on comparative critical studies in international cinema. Armed with this background, he dove headlong into the production of TV commercials, directing many regional campaigns before entering the world of feature filmmaking to direct three works, one of which is a Hollywood feature entitled “The Hive.” Resultantly, he has developed a penchant for storytelling, naturalistic performances and cinematic visuals, evident in his work for beauty ads as well as other TV spots. At the center of his filmmaking style is his ability to locate the uniqueness of the idea inherent in the creative brief, which he then seeks to adorn in a fresh, elegant yet simple manner. That is, he excels in boomeranging an idea back in the form of visuals that connects the client with the target consumers. In addition, he is driven by a desire to explore new avenues of filmic expressions, never content with repeating previous successes, a trait that has lead to engaging work for many satisfied clients.
In his spare time, he likes being a detective of emerging films, fads and fashions, while at the same time keeping a finger on the pulse of current world affairs and counterintuitive, hidden trends.
